Adeli Suit History

In 1991, the Ayurveda company, which financed the cerebral palsy rehabilitation developments, invited a group of leading Russian specialists in aerospace medicine from the Zvezda corporation. They designed a new method of rehabilitative treatment of patients with motor and speech disorders of cerebral origin. The new method was based on a device, now known as the Adeli Suit, which had been found suitable for treatment of posture and movement impairments.

The prototype of the Adeli Suit was the Penguin cosmonaut loading suit, which had been used in manned space flights since 1971 to neutralize harmful effects of a long stay in space in an environment of zero gravity and hypokinesis. Just as the Soviet-made Penguin loading suit had made a breakthrough in space travel, making possible long manned space flights, the Adeli Suit is now opening up a new epoch in the use of high technologies for developing highly effective techniques of restorative and rehabilitative treatment of patients with cerebral palsy.
