Adeli Suit History
|
In
1991, the Ayurveda company, which financed the cerebral palsy rehabilitation
developments, invited a group of leading Russian specialists in aerospace
medicine from the Zvezda corporation. They designed a new method of
rehabilitative treatment of patients with motor and speech disorders of cerebral
origin. The new method was based on a device, now known as the Adeli Suit, which
had been found suitable for treatment of posture and movement impairments. |
 |
 |
The
prototype of the Adeli Suit was the Penguin cosmonaut loading suit, which had been
used in manned space flights since 1971 to neutralize harmful effects of a long
stay in space in an environment of zero gravity and hypokinesis.
Just
as the Soviet-made Penguin loading suit had made a breakthrough in space travel,
making possible long manned space flights, the Adeli Suit is now opening up a
new epoch in the use of high technologies for developing highly effective
techniques of restorative and rehabilitative treatment of patients with cerebral
palsy.
