Advantages
Rehabilitation methods based on the Adeli Suit have some significant advantages
over any others:
(A) generalized effects on the structures of the central and peripheral nervous
system are active enough to make the method highly effective, in particular, at
the late stages of the disorder where conventional methods work insufficiently
or do not work at all;
(B) therapeutic effects involve not only the motor functions of the trunk and
lower extremities, but also on movements of the upper extremities and the articulatory musculature with various forms of dysarthria;
(C) treatment is painless and very safe for every age, and produces no harmful
effects likely to lead to deterioration in the patient’s condition;
(D) the methods are very easy to grasp, with the result that both patients and
their relatives find themselves highly motivated to start treatment;
(E) the methods lend themselves readily to use not only at in-patient
facilities but also at outpatient facilities, rehabilitation and recreation
centers, and, in some cases, even at home.
In addition, two more important
features to the Adeli Methods are worth mentioning. One is that they are
compatible with any other available methods of cerebral palsy rehabilitation–
from horse riding to radical surgery. For example, where deformities are
corrected by surgery, the application of the Adeli Suit can reduce the length of
post-operative adaptation by more than half and make the effects of treatment
more pronounced.
Furthermore, the Adeli Methods
have the advantage of being relatively cheap. For example, using an Adeli Suit
during a month-long course of treatment normally costs from $7 to $14, depending
on usage scheme. Overall, as estimated by Russian experts, the practical costs
of the Adeli Methods are nearly 40% lower than those of conventional treatment
techniques.
